Experience: Councilman Julio A Guridy was first elected to Allentown City Council in 2001 and re-elected five times as top vote getter in the city. He served as council vice president for 6 years and president in 2012- 2015 and again in 2021. During his tenure in City Council has sponsored or co- sponsored dozens of legislations to redevelop the city; and therefore, the lives of its residents and those who work and visit Allentown.


Guridy is Director of the Contract Compliance Department of the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission, where he has also served as a Transition and Efficiency Officer after being the Director of the Compact Authorized Investments Department for 7 years and managed a budget of $47,000.000 to direct 94 transportation infrastructure related projects in 33 municipalities along the Delaware River in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Guridy is a Real Estate Investor and owns several properties in the Lehigh Valley.


Guridy employment experiences include: Vice President and Community Development Officer of Bank of America and Fleet Bank and; Assistant Vice President and Community Development Officer of Summit Bank; Bank Officer and Assistant Branch Manager at First Valley Bank. Developed several businesses and with his wife co-owned and operated Guridy’s Travel Agency and two (2) Guridy Beauty Salons for 13 years in the Lehigh Valley. He was Executive Director of the Council of Spanish Speaking Organizations of the Lehigh Valley (now Hispanic Council); an Adjunct Professor of Sociology at Northampton Community College: a Caseworker for Lehigh County Office of Children and Youth Services; Family Therapist for the Community Centered Treatment Program.


Education: in 2014 Guridy was bestowed a Doctor Honoris Causa degree from Florida Divinity University, in 1985 he earned his earned his Master’s Degree in Sociology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and in 1984 his Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology, with a minor in Criminal Justice Administrations from East Stroudsburg University.


Guridy has taken many post graduate courses and attended numerous professional development trainings, including: Leadership Lehigh Valley, class of 1993; National Coalition Building Institute, class of 1994 and 1995; Community Development Lending School at the University of California, Berkeley, in 1998; and 7 one- week long Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation Training Institute classes in 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2001 , 2003, and 2004; La Raza Annual Conference; National Association of Latino Elected Officials Institute; Housing Authorities National Conference of Executive Directors and Board members.

Volunteer: Guridy has been a member of numerous community organizations in the Lehigh Valley and throughout Pennsylvania. Currently he is President of the Board of Directors of Casa Guadalupe, Treasurer of the Allentown Housing Authority, Member of the Hispanic chamber of Commerce of the LV.
